Norman Bierwerth has been a locomotive machinist since he was 17 years old. From that young age, he has been learning every nuance of the locomotive engine. In 1983, he began doing his own work at his kitchen table. That work quickly became the successful business Midwest Locomotive Services Incorporated. Business has been good and it has been growing ever since.

Midwest Locomotive Services has always been a family owned and operated business for locomotive components. Our friendly staff consists of Norman Bierwerth, his wife, and their children. We provide only quality work and customer care.  It runs in the family.

In the last 26 years, Midwest Locomotive Services Incorporated has grown significantly. We started in a small 20’ x 20’ corner of a farming shop and eventually grew to occupy the entire building. We built offices and a workspace and we now utilize a full 10,000 square feet. Inside this same space, we still make the same quality locomotive components we always have.

We travel locally to pick up parts and perform work, but our clients are located all over the US, Mexico, and Canada—an impressive range of clients for a four employee business. Our reputation for quality stretches far and wide. Whether it’s an  EMD Locomotive, CSX, Class 1 Railroads, or Regional Railroads, our clients always return for our quality locomotive engine services.
